We are thrilled to welcome your expanding family to ours! We are honored to be documenting your little one’s very first portraits; these are the images that will be treasured for years to come and will beautifully chronicle your family’s history.
Those first few weeks of your baby’s life go by in a blur. You will never have those beloved moments again, yet in the years to come it will be those very moments that you will try to relive. The way they look so small in your arms or curl up perfectly in your neck, their tiny little toes, and the gentle way that they breathe. Newborn portraits are a perfect way to capture all of the details of this special time and cherish them for years to come. It is an honor and a joy to meet so many families and I look forward to working with yours in the future.
Following your portrait session is your reveal. This is when you come back to my studio and you get to see all your beautiful portraits printed, up on the wall, and decide what you want to buy. What you buy is entirely up to you. My job is simply to take the most beautiful portraits you have ever seen of yourself that you want to buy them all!
Facts about your Newborn Session
What is the ideal age for a newborn photo session?
The ideal age is between 0-10 days old, when babies are that tiny and they spend a lot of time sleeping and still curl up into very sweet poses similar to positions they were in when they were in the womb.
What if baby doesn’t arrive on their due date?
Mom or Dad must contact me when then the baby arrives. I hold the time before and after the due date so the parents are guaranteed space no matter when their babies arrives.
How long does a session take?
Newborn sessions can take anywhere from 1-4 hours. This may seem like a long time, but a lot of the time is spent feeding the baby and keeping the baby happy as possible.
What should the baby wear to their session?
Most newborn photography is done naked to capture the tininess. Please dress the baby is something easy to take on and off, preferably footy pajamas and NOT a onesie. If you would rather have your baby clothed in pictures, please dress them in something that fits them well. Big clothes do not photograph well on babies. I do provide props and other accessories for the session.
What you should have readily available during your session?
Some good things are pacifier, extra diapers, wipes, and burp cloths, blankets. Change of clothes for yourself if you want to be apart of the photos. If you have props you want to include in your session please show them to me via email ahead of time.
How to handle pee and poop during a session?
Nursing moms should avoid spicy food 24 hours before session, to avoid upsetting their tummy.
Try keeping you baby awake 1-2 hours before the session.
Make sure your baby has a full belly before the session.
If baby is sick please reschedule your shoot!
Please go over this checklist prior to your shoot, any questions feel free to contact me.
